Sharon Volleyball won their first sets of the season this week against Hockomock League giants, Mansfield and Canton. This season Mansfield is 6-2 and rocking the Hock.
Sharon took their first set from Mansfield with help from fan-appointed MVP, senior Savannah Gray.
“Individually I felt very good because I was coming off a streak of not playing at all, so it felt good to be able to play well,” said Gray. She says it was a very fun and exciting game both to play and watch.
Gray says the team definitely worked better together because they communicated. “As a team, I feel like we played very cohesively,” she said.
Gray says the Nest, Sharon’s cheering section, was instrumental in the success on Wednesday and Friday night. “I love when they do the little chants. It really brings up the spirit of the game,” said Gray.
She says the team plays better when they feel the energy of the gym.
Wednesday night, the stands began a loud chant of “MVP!” directed at Gray after a string of kills and smart choices on the court causing Gray to say she felt a little famous.
She says that the fans expect big things from her moving forward, but she can deliver.
Heading into week four, Sharon plays Taunton on Monday, Attleboro on Tuesday, and Stoughton on Friday with high hopes to earn their first win and improve their 0-7 record.
