Former US president Donald J. Trump claims he will be taken into custody and arrested on this Tuesday, March 21, 2023 for a $130,000 payment made to an adult film star actress Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 elections. I
It is said that Trump’s payment of $130,000 to Daniels was to keep her quiet about an alleged affair between them prior to the elections. The charges that Trump would be facing is for, according to Forbes Magazine, “falsifying business records tied to the hush money payments to Daniels”. If president Trump were to be arrested this Tuesday it would mark the first time that any former president has been taken into custody or faced any criminal charges.
Although we do not know if he will be arrested, Trump has called for protest about this alleged arrest, which is making people nervous of repeats of prior protests that turned into more, saying on his social media platform, “IT’S TIME!!! WE JUST CAN’T ALLOW THIS ANYMORE. THEY’RE KILLING OUR NATION AS WE SIT BACK & WATCH. WE MUST SAVE AMERICA!PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!,” said Trump.
Senior Amanda Brown says that Trump is seeking attention because he has not been the top story in a while. She says he is making the other side of the political spectrum look bad by making people think he will be wrongly arrested. “Trump has not been in the spotlight as of recently, and we all know he likes to be. I think there is something going on but I do not think he will be arrested, it seems like he just wants to get attention and make the democrats look bad for publicity before the start of the elections next year,” said Brown.
If Trump were to be arrested this Tuesday, it would not mean the end for his presidential campaign since he would not be thrown in jail, and everything would be settled in court. Brown says that even though it would not force him to end his campaign legally, he might be forced to end it regardless. “Trump has had tons of controversy surrounding him since day one of his presidential campaign before 2016, if he gets arrested then a lot of people will see him as a liar and he would not be able to win. I also think after it is proven that he had an affair his family troubles would be too much for him to be able to continue his 2024 presidential campaign, let alone to win,” said Brown.
There are no definitive indications that what is being claimed by former president Trump is true, as the spokesperson for the Manhatten’s District Attorney’s Office Danielle Filson had declined to comment on the topic. Trump’s lawyers claim he will turn himself in to the authorities. “Trump’s lawyers are expected to negotiate with prosecutors a date and time for Trump to turn himself in to the authorities,” wrote Forbes.
