SHS Radio Club is hard at work, having just put on an open mic night, and preparing for the upcoming school dances and a concert to happen this spring. They meet weekly and go over upcoming events, as well as come up with ideas for upcoming musical events in the high school.
Members of the club love organizing and working these events, though most will say they prefer putting together concerts.
“Radio club is awesome and cool and I love participating in all the fun activities we do. I especially like the radio club concerts because it’s cool to see all the bands at school and support them,” said Clark Nau, a sophomore member.
This year, Radio Club has already done audio mixing for Sharon Day, DJ’ed Homecoming, and organized a Concert and an Open Mic Night, and will be DJ’ing Freshman Formal, Sophomore Semi, Junior Prom, and Senior Prom. They are also planning a concert for the spring.
On top of performing, DJ’ing, and audio engineering, Radio Club is great for learning the logistics of planning an event. “Radio Club is always a blast, but I also love the side that’s like getting down to business and making stuff happen,” said Giacomo Woodbury, a junior member.
Radio Club is always looking for new members, and if you’re interested in event planning, DJ’ing, or you’re just a musician who wants to be in the loop about upcoming events and wants to help put them together, attend one of their meetings, which are every Thursday after school in room 2221.
