The Sharon High School PTSO is holding its first fundraiser in several years, and many students are conflicted about signing up for it. According to PTSO co-chair Ms. Charlotte Hogan, here’s everything you need to know:
The SHS PTSO Color Run/Walk will be after the Thanksgiving pep rally on November 27th, a half day ending at 11:40 P.M. The pep rally will last from roughly 9:00 A.M. to 10:15 A.M., transitioning directly from the gym to the football field. Students will attend their Period 1 class prior to the pep rally from 8 to 9 A.M.
The Color Run’s proceeds will be used to provide funding for grants for both teachers and student-run clubs, classroom supplies, scholarships for graduating students, educational programs, and guest speakers. In order to participate, parents or guardians must sign up their students through this link and donate at least $15; students can also donate $15 the day of the Color Run. Families can choose to make an additional payment if they would like, or share the donation page with family and friends outside of SHS to raise more money for the PTSO.
Students who sign up for the event can run, walk, or hang out at the track. If students wish to donate at least $15 but not participate in these activities, they can cheer for their friends from the stands. Students who want to participate in the Color Run but do not wish to be doused in the vibrant cornstarch will have a color-free part of the track available to them. On the other hand, students who want to emerge as colorful as possible should wear light-colored shirts or sweatshirts to the event. The cornstarch washes out of all clothes and is both non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
Students can also participate in a raffle to raise money for their team or club. To participate, five or more students must register, donate $15 each, and email the PTSO together at [email protected] about the group they would like to support.
The Color Run is not a race, Ms. Hogan explained. It’s a fun activity focused on building community among SHS students and staff, while also offering families the opportunity to support the school. The PTSO’s Color Run is a great opportunity to demonstrate your sense of school spirit and support for the Sharon community!
Summary: The SHS PTSO Color Run/Walk is raising funds that will go towards various SHS PTSO programs. In order to participate in this event, where students can run, walk, or hang out at the track, a student’s parent or guardian must sign them up using this link and donate at least $15.
