Ms. Golder
This past month, Sharon High School welcomed a new Dean of Academic Affairs: Ms. Alyson Golder.
Golder, a resident of Raynham, has over fifteen years of experience as an academic coordinator and guidance counselor at Taunton Public Schools. There, she supervised the AP and SAT exams and oversaw Taunton’s Early College Program, a Massachusetts state initiative that provides marginalized students with dual college enrollment programs. Golder also advised Taunton’s Drama Club for ten years and led Taunton Abroad, an annual travel program that took students overseas to Europe.
As Sharon’s Dean of Academic Affairs, Golder aims to provide a voice to all students. “[I want to] make sure that all students have access to the same high-quality education—equity is really important to me,” she explained. “I also deeply value student voice, and I want kids to come to school feeling like they truly belong while being celebrated for their unique differences.”
Outside of work, Golder prides herself in being a “super drama nerd” who took chorus and AP Music Theory in high school. “I was in all the musicals,” she remembered. “Being on stage was my creative outlet.”
Although she has been with the SHS community for less than a month, Golder appreciates the drive and dedication that everyone in Sharon shows. “The students and faculty really want to be here every day,” Golder said. “I’m constantly impressed with everyone’s desire to be here and how happy they are to learn new things.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the 2025-2026 school year, Golder hopes to continue fostering a department culture where students and counselors can build meaningful connections.
“The counseling department is already so inviting, and all the counselors have such [a] great rapport with their students,” she noted. “My goal would be maintaining that relationship-building… making sure that this department is a home for kids. If they don’t feel connected to a club or a sport, I want them to feel connected to a faculty member in this space particularly.”
