World Studies teachers Ms. Cohen and Mr. Judkins acted as judges in an activity that puts Leibnitz’s theory of optimism on trial.
Zach Abdelkader as author Voltaire, Adam Cvecka as philosopher Pangloss, and Chloe Gallagher as a farmer in Candide.

This week, 10th Grade World Studies students put the philosophies of 17th century thinker Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz on trial as part of their study of Voltaire’s novella, Candide. The activity was a capstone to a study of satire and the Enlightenment.
