After a very successful season one back in 2019, The Mandalorian fans went through a long awaited return for season two. With the first episode of the first season out in November of 2019, The Mandalorian took a new swing at Star Wars on Disney +. Many Star Wars fans were delighted to see a new TV series that was not animated like the Clone Wars franchise on Disney XD and Netflix. The director, Jon Favreau, hinted at the start of season two around March of 2020.
To help pass the time during quarantines, Netflix, Disney +, and Hulu took major strides for entertainment for all. With major shows all over the summer, Disney + fans were waiting for the biggest show on the platform. Season one was clearly a success due to a 4.57/5 rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.8/5 rating on Google. Fans immediately fell in love with Pedro Pascal, the character that plays the mandalorian, and especially Baby Yoda. Baby Yoda took off immediately due to the humorous traits and helpful role it played with the mandalorian. Baby Yoda also became a new set of memes and had its own skit on Saturday Night Live.
“I thought season 1 was really good, as a lifelong Star Wars fan it was really cool to see and hear things that reminded me of watching the original movies as a kid,”said senior Shea Letendre who is a big fan of the show.
Season one was action packed with fights against samurai in episode 4, a battle against droids in episode 6, and a fire filled finale. The pilot episode got off to a wonderful start due to Favreau’s excellent director and production skills. The composer, Ludwig Goransson, displayed a wonderful use of dramatic music in the background which allowed the audience to feel part of the scenes. Each episode was very specific and required audiences to be on the edge of their seats. Each scene in each episode was a thriller. The supporting cast of Greef Karga(played by Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune(played by Gina Carano) allowed the fans to understand the plot even better.
Another fan of the show, Senior Owen Conway said, “Many Star Wars fans miss the old feel of Star Wars and The Mandalorian is almost made for them to fill that need”.
With the highly anticipated season two on the rise, there were many questions regarding the first episode. Will it be any better than season one? How will I find out more about Baby Yoda’s journey? Fans continuously asked those questions regarding season two. The season one finale was an episode for the ages and it left fans with these questions. The incredible battle between the mandalorian alongside Gideon and Cara Dune against the storm troopers in the town involved a great way to end the season. With the ending of the mandalorian burying his enemy and taking off with Baby Yoda sets up episode 1 of season 2 perfectly.
With the trailer coming out on October 21st, there were many hidden secrets and rumors for episode 1. Some people had seen some clues that characters from the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones may be coming back to The Mandalorian. It would be a great surprise to see old characters returning to this TV series. Another major character that may return is Jango Fett from the Star Wars trilogy.
With high expectations for season two, senior David Baker said, “Obviously with the success of the first season following up with season two might prove to be difficult. If they decide to stay away from fan service and stick to what the show does right, season two will be just as great as season one”.
With the first episode being released on October 30th, fans are more than excited for season two of The Mandalorian.
