Student Question: hey girl hey i’m so bored by the fashion around here. like everyone is wearing sweatpants & hoodies. i feel like we need some more pizzazz around here—plsss tell us how we can remedy this plague of banality!!!
Abby’s Answer: hey girl hey LOVE the vocab btw. I totally agree, we could use some more pizzazz (but tbh, I need that hoodie to get through my Comp Sci class. It’s code in there!)
Some of my favorite ways to add sparkle to a winter outfit are cute turtlenecks, scarves, and jackets. Any of these can add a pop of color. But how can we convince our fellow students to spice up their style? Well… imho, the Talon could really use an inspired fashion columnist… interested?
Q: I get more notifications from Duolingo than I do from my friends… what do I do if my streak is so high that if I end it a green owl will come and take my kneecaps?
A: Keeping that streak should be your number one priority. Friends? Kneecaps? Your language learning is more important. I should know—I’m at 987 days and counting. Once I reach a thousand, Duo will even let me sleep for a few hours! Welcome to the Streak Society.
Q: How do I tell a girl I love her?
A: It’s generally pretty similar to telling a guy you love him. If you’re still confused, I think a good friend of mine has the perfect advice for you: this Duolingo blog post lists the words “I love you” in 23 languages, including Spanish (“Te amo”), French (“Je t’aime”), and Chinese (“我爱你”).
But sometimes 23 languages isn’t enough. If your Valentine’s Day isn’t going the way you planned, this blog post might help you save some face…
Buona fortuna,
Abby
